Living Values Education Workshop -- September 28-30, 2018

The Living Values Education Workshop was held from September 28-30, 2018 in Ubud Bali, within the safe, fun and full of acceptance atmosphere. The 20 participants, originated from around Bali and Malang, took part in every workshop activities and dived into meaningful sessions delivered by both trainers, Wayan Rustiasa and Putu Rahayu Ujianti. Reflective method were used to assist the participants in understanding how their values have special roles in their lives. A participant from Bali, Ryan, mentioned “We actually don't need a validation or confirmation from the outside, because each person already had the values within themselves.”

Meanwhile, Putu Rahayu Ujianti, the facilitator, mentionedValues are a lighthouse for our soul. When we were faced with challenges, our values will become something very valuable for us.”

In the session of Transitioning to Values-Based Discipline, the facilitator confirmed that discipline is established based from the sense of awareness of each person, not by force. In a group, discipline is established from collaborative rules. “To have the sense of awareness in becoming a discipline individual, will take time and patience during the process. When imposed, there will be some people who feel that their human rights are being violated and become uncomfortable when they go through the process. Changes happen in a slow pace. If they happen in a sudden, the individual will not enjoy the whole process. Transitioning to Values-Based Discipline focused on the process, not the result”, Wayan Rustiasa remarked.

By the end of the workshop, the participants were feeling grateful that it went smooth and they wished they can get more benefit from their togetherness. “In an atmosphere of acceptance, each person is freer to learn and be creative”, taken from LVEP Educator Training Guide, Page 58.
